West Berkshire Council (WBC) and Solar Together Berkshire (opens in new window) are working in partnership to help local homeowners turn sunlight into electricity by investing in to renewables through a group-buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage.

The Big Community Switch is back, offering an opportunity for households to save on their energy bills by securing competitive tariffs with trusted energy suppliers.
West Berkshire Council’s contractor, Volker Highways Ltd., will be undertaking essential carriageway surfacing works on The Street, Mortimer, from the roundabout near the station to the junction with Goodboys Lane (Wokefield Park Hotel). This work is in preparation for surface dressing to be undertaken later in the year. Works are programmed between 07:00 and 19:00 from 26 to 28 June 2023.
A YELLOW Heat-Health Alert - (Hot weather response) has been issued for the following regions: East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, London and is in effect between 9 June 2023 at 09:00 and 12 June 2023 at 09:00.
Pitfield Lane in the Parish of Stratfield Mortimer is currently closed and will reopen on 6th June 2023. The closure is 150m from pedestrian gate in field, between the junctions of The Street and Drury Lane. This emergency closure is to enable Thames Water to repair a visible leak.
Residential access will be maintained throughout.
