West Berkshire Council Careers Event

West Berkshire Council will be holding an online careers event webinar on 30th January 2023 at 12pm.  Managers from various departments will be sharing information about some of the job openings they are looking to fill, e.g. a member of the Countryside team will be speaking about Ranger positions.

Defibrillator Cabinet in BT Kiosk

As a safety enhancement, the Rotaid cabinet originally installed int the BT kiosk has been replaced by a locked Sentry cabinet.  This will safeguard the defibrillator device for when required in an emergency.

As with the other defibrillators in the village, access can only be made by dialling 999.  The emergency services will assess the situation from the information the caller gives them and will advise the PIN code to enable access to the device.

Cold Weather Alert - Level 3 - Extended to 23:59 Sunday 18th December

There is a 99% probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions/heavy snow between 09:00 on Wednesday 14 Dec and 23:59 on Sunday 18 Dec in the Southeast, including West Berkshire. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable people and disrupt the delivery of services.

Footway Reconstruction Works - The Street, Mortimer

Between 5th and 19th December, there will be temporary traffic management including 2-way signals along The Street, Mortimer. The temporary traffic signals will be operational 24 hours a day, and a temporary footway will be provided throughout. However, works will proceed between 9:30am - 3:30pm. The work will include footway reconstruction, vegetation clearance & embankment retention.

Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council Community Grants

This year Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council created a new Community Grant Fund to provide financial support to charity, voluntary and non-commercial organisations running initiatives for the benefit of the parish and/or its inhabitants. Applications were limited to £1500 and the total pot this year was £10,000.
