At its meeting on the 27th of July, the Council agreed to give a grant of £500.00 to the St John’s Hall Management Committee towards the refurbishment of the outside area of the hall.
The Parish Council are pleased to announce that the area in front of the Community Centre has been upgraded and a drain has been installed. This means there should no longer be the need to navigate a puddle on entering the building after prolonged rain.
In addition, a footpath has been built to join the area at the front of the Community Centre with the paving slabs at the side. This too should help prevent users of the building getting wet and muddy feet as they open and lock up the Centre.
The Parish Council has appointed 10 people to the Steering Group of the new Neighbourhood Plan (NP) of whom three are parish councillors.
The Service Level Agreement with West Berkshire Council, which defines the relationship between the NP and WBC, has been signed and put in place.
Thames Water require a further extension of the current closure of West End Road, Mortimer. The works have run into ‘more’ unforeseen engineering problems and the closure will remain in place until 25th August 2021. Thames Water apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
An alternative route is via St Catherine’s Hill, Victoria Road, Stephens Road and vice versa.
