Pavement Encroachment Along The Street

Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council (SMPC) are aware of and share the concerns of residents regarding the brambles and other vegetation encroaching onto the pavement down The Street. This has been an ongoing problem for some years and both West Berkshire Council (WBC) and landowners have been approached in the past. As has been stated on Facebook, the cutting of hedges growing on private land is the responsibility of the landowners and the maintenance of the pavement is the responsibility of WBC.

Wild World Heroes – WB Libraries Annual Summer Reading Challenge

Children aged 4-11 years are invited to become Wild World Heroes!

This year, West Berkshire Libraries’ annual Summer Reading Challenge has been developed by The Reading Agency in partnership with World Wildlife Fund. It is a celebration of books, nature and action for the environment.

Windmill Road - Partial Closure July 2021

Windmill Road in the Parish of Stratfield Mortimer will be closed on the 5th to 8th July 2021, the closure will be between its junction with Spring Lane and its junction with Kings Street.  An alternative route is via Victoria Road, Kings Street, and vice versa.

The purpose of this closure is for contractors to lay a new gas connection within the carriageway.

Surface Repainting on MUGA and Tennis Courts

The Multi Games Area (MUGA) on the Fairground is scheduled for a surface clean starting next week before the installation of new mini netball court lines and the repainting of the older court lines.  This will mean that the MUGA will be closed for a few days from Monday, 14th June until around the 18th, dependent on how it dries.  The MUGA will be fenced off for safety during this period.

West End Road Update - Partial Closure until mid August

Dates for the closure have now been extended to the 16th August 2021.

Thames Water have advised that due to geological characteristics, a change in working method is required, thus this process will take longer that initially anticipated.
