The Blands School Foundation Trust - Available Funding

The Blands School Foundation Trust makes available grants to support the education of children who live in, or attend school in Burghfield.  This includes students who  live in Mortimer and attend the Willink School.

Grants in the order of a few hundred pounds are made to individuals to support their participation in, for example, courses and school trips that they would not otherwise be able to afford.  The Trust interprets the term educational broadly to include sporting and artistic as well as strictly academic pursuits.

Consultation on the Adult Social Care Strategy for West Berkshire

West Berkshire Council has launched a consultation on the draft Adult Social Care Strategy (2022-2026), to give service users, staff and other local people and organisations the opportunity to share their thoughts on what the priorities should be over the coming years.

Stephens Firs - Footway Closure Update

West Berkshire Council have advised that the footway resurfacing on Stephens Firs will now take place in January 2022.  Exact dates to be confirmed.

New Councillors

The three candidates who applied for the two casual vacancies on the Parish Council presented their applications for consideration by the existing councillors at the Council's October meeting.  After a close vote, Tom Palmer, who works in facilities management, and Andy Noonan, a quantity surveyor, were elected.

The Council thanked all three candidates for putting themselves forward.

Fairground Trustee

Councillor Danusia Morsley has been appointed as a Parish Council Fairground Trustee for the period October 2021 to October 2025, replacing Tina Reade whose term ends then.  The Council thanks Tina for the term she serviced as a trustee.
