The three candidates who applied for the two casual vacancies on the Parish Council presented their applications for consideration by the existing councillors at the Council's October meeting. After a close vote, Tom Palmer, who works in facilities management, and Andy Noonan, a quantity surveyor, were elected.
The Council thanked all three candidates for putting themselves forward.
Councillor Danusia Morsley has been appointed as a Parish Council Fairground Trustee for the period October 2021 to October 2025, replacing Tina Reade whose term ends then. The Council thanks Tina for the term she serviced as a trustee.
Owing to a £150k shortfall in the funding needed to deliver the library service to the district's eight libraries, the Parish Council agreed to pay a voluntary contribution of £3,792.00, roughly equivalent to £1 per parish resident. The payment comes from the Council's "section 137" budget which is available to spend limited sums for purposes for which the Council has no other specific statutory expenditure.
West Berkshire Council has advised that we are currently experiencing a large increase in cases across the West Berkshire area; for context, they have more than doubled in the past week and are now at the highest since we started regular testing in the community.
