Windmill Court Petition

Further to its meeting on the 8th of July, the parish council agreed to help the Windmill Court residents to create a petition requesting West Berkshire Council not to lift the current restrictive covenant(s) or other restrictions.

The aim of the petition is to prevent Sovereign Housing Association’s proposals to redevelop the site without alternative accommodation being available within the village to Windmill Court residents, that would allow them to retain family and/or personal ties.

Community Grant Fund

The Council is excited to announce its new Community Grant Fund.

The Council regularly supports community-based initiatives, such as Handybus, Burghfield and Mortimer Volunteer Bureau and the Tadley based Citizens Advice. The purpose of the Community Grant Fund is to provide financial support for charity, voluntary and non-commercial organisations which do not routinely seek assistance from the Council, but which support initiatives for the benefit of the Parish and/or its inhabitants.

Outdoor Gym Equipment on Fairground

The outdoor gym equipment has now been installed on the Fairground but the equipment is currently closed off until the health and safety inspection has been completed.

The area will remain sectioned off and unavailable for use until next week when the safety inspection is carried out.  

Once opened, the outdoor gym will be for the use of adults and children over 14 and we look forward to seeing it used as part of people's fitness routines.

Village Defibrillators - Update 9th August 2022

Further to the recall by the manufacturers, the defibrillators at:

- Mortimer Surgery, 72 Victoria Road

- Sansome & George Estate Agents, 45 West End Road

- Horse And Groom Public House, The Street

are temporarily unavailable whilst being upgraded and will be back online as soon as possible.  

The defibrillator from the old BT kiosk will be back in place shortly.  We are currently awaiting a battery part from the Community Heartbeat Trust.

Three Village Defibrillators offline due to software issue

The following village defibrillators are currently offline due to a software issue:

- Mortimer Surgery 72 Victoria Road

- Sansome & George Estate Agents 45 West End Road

- Horse And Groom Public House The Street

This is being looked into as a matter of urgency.

In the event of an emergency, please dial 999 and, if appropriate, you will be directed to the nearest online defibrillator.

The defibrillator taken from the old BT kiosk outside the Co-op has been inspected by engineers and will be re-installed shortly.
