West Berkshire residents need photo ID to vote at elections in May

For the first time, residents in West Berkshire will need to show photographic ID to vote at this year’s local elections. Residents are being urged to make sure they are ready to vote in May by checking they have an accepted form of ID.

Garth Hall

The Garth Club hall, in St John’s Road, was closed in 2012 following an unsuitable roof replacement. Since then, the parish council has gone to significant effort to devise a solution.

Severe Cold Winter Weather - Level 3 - Alert - Extended to Friday the 27th of January

The probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions in the Southeast, including West Berkshire, has been extended from 0900 on Tuesday 24 Jan to Friday 27 Jan.

Second Round of SMPC’s Community Grant Fund is now open

As £5,000 currently remains in the Community Grant Fund reserve after the first funding round, a further application process is now opening for organisations to apply for funding. Applications will be limited to £1,500 but organisations can seek match funding using platforms such as The Good Exchange.

Update on Local Plan Review Regulation 19 Consultation

West Berkshire District Council are pleased to confirm that the statutory Regulation 19 Consultation will start on Friday 20 January and last for six weeks. The Local Plan Review 2022-2039 Proposed Submission document (LPR), along with a vast majority of the evidence base has already been published on the Council’s website and all documentation along with the consultation portal will be available on 20 January.
