Planning

The Council is not able to grant planning permission for development within the Parish. All planning applications must be made through West Berkshire Council using their process.

That may sound surprising as we have a very active Planning Committee. Our Committee is included as a part of the West Berkshire process to review all applications within the Parish and act as their local experts. We review applications to ensure that they meet all of our regulations and plans (the Neighbourhood Development Plan for example). The output of each review is either 'no objection' or an 'objection' with or without further comment. West Berkshire Planning Committee then considers approval, or otherwise, of application drawing upon our input as well as other sources. All decisions are taken by West Berkshire Council.

Our Planning Committee meetings are public and members of the public do have an opportunity to speak. However, formal objections to planning applications have to be made via the West Berkshire process.
