Neighbourhood Plan

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

Neighbourhood Plans allow communities to create policies that define the development of and use of land within a neighbourhood. In 2017, parish councillors and residents created and approved the Stratfield Mortimer Neighbourhood Plan, one of the first in West Berkshire.

Why do we need to update the Plan?

New local and national government policies can reduce the relevance and effectiveness of a neighbourhood plan. That’s why a new group of councillors and community members have formed the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and is shaping updates to our Plan to maintain its effectiveness. They are also conducting a review of the land allocated behind Tower Gardens for a new surgery, school and parking.

The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group has established its own website at https://np.stratfield-mortimer.gov.uk/ (opens in new window) where you will find full details the past and future Neighbourhood Plan activities.
