Tennis courts closed 21 and 22 March

The Fairground Tennis Courts are closed on 21st and 22nd March due to cleaning. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

CCTV On The Fairground

Part funded by a grant from West Berkshire Council, CCTV has now been installed on the Fairground.

The system records in high definition 24 hours a day and has long-range night vision that can record in complete darkness. The system is controlled remotely and is password protected. Access to the system is strictly controlled by the Parish Clerk but, if needed, other services, including the police, can request access to the recordings.

Garth Hall Update

Members of the parish council met on Thursday 29 February with representatives from the Royal British Legion to discuss progress regarding the potential transfer of the trust relating to, or the disposal of, Garth Club (aka Garth Hall).  Following the formal notice published in October last year, the Legion received four indications of interest in relation to the building, of which two potentially satisfied the initial criteria sufficiently to be discussed at the meeting.

Emergency Road Closure - The Avenue Mortimer

Private Street The Avenue in the Parish of Mortimer is currently closed and expected to be reopened on 19th March 2024, the works are taking place outside No. 67.

This is an emergency closure to enable Thames Water to carry out repairs to a burst main.

Please Note: Blue light access is not known.

Rural England Prosperity Fund

There is something called the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), which is a Government fund for small rural businesses. 
 
Businesses can apply for between £10k - £40k to invest in a project that will help stimulate growth, diversification and employment in our rural communities.
