AMBER Heat Health Alert until 23 June 9am

the Met Office has now upgraded its Heat Health Alert for the South East from yellow to amber and extended it to 9am next Monday (23 June). 

 

As a reminder when these AMBER alerts are issued the level of heat is likely to impact the whole population - healthy people as well as those who are vulnerable.  

 

This means significant impacts are probable across the health and social care sector due to the high temperatures, including:

AWE 75th anniversary community event - Saturday 28 June 2025

AWE are holding a community event to celebrate their 75th anniversary. It will be held at The Link in Tadley from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 28 June. They will be sharing rarely seen photos from their archive as well as providing information about their work in science and technology and our infrastructure plans. Their recruitment team will be present, along with ‘Robodog’, AWE’s very own four-legged robot.

Planned Road Closure - Windmill Road, Stratfield Mortimer

Windmill Road between its junction of Briar Lea Road and its junction with the Crescent will be closed from 16th to 30th June between 0800 and 16:00. This is to enable King Meadow Homes to install a new manhole.

New SMPC Chairman and Vice-Chair elected

At the Annual Council meeting on 15 May, Cllr Graham Bridgman was elected as our new Chairman and Cllr David Kilshaw as Vice-Chairman.  Cllr Bridgman, who was previously the Council’s Vice-Chairman, paid a warm tribute to his predecessor, Cllr Danusia Morsley, thanking her for her significant contribution to the Council and the community over the past two years as the Council’s Chairman.
