Emergency Thames Water Closure - Mortimer Lane, Stratfield Mortimer

Mortimer Lane in the Paish of Stratfield Mortimer is currently closed and will reopen 1st August 2024, the closure is between the junction of Beech Hill Road and the Hampshire County Boundary. This emergency road closure is to enable Thames Water to repair a leak.

Residential access will be maintained throughout, and the diversion route will be signed on site.

New Co-Opted Councillor joins SMPC

We are pleased to announce that at the full Council meeting on the 11th of July, Kevin Strong was co-opted as a new councillor. Kevin has lived in Mortimer since 1997 and has a wealth of experience of village and parish life and understands the workings of the communities intimately. His three children grew up and were schooled in Mortimer and Burghfield, he was a volunteering scouting leader in 1st Burghfield & Sulhamstead Scout Group for 14 years and he has been part of the Burghfield Santas since 2011.

Upcoming roadworks

Green Lane in the Parish of Ufton Nervet will be closed on 31st July 2024, between the hours of 08:00 to 17:00.  The closure is between its junctions with Island Farm Road and Unnamed Road from Ufton Lane to Camp Road.  This closure is to enable Volker Highways to carry out permanent carriageway repairs on behalf of West Berkshire Council.

What would be the impact to you if Royal Berkshire Hospital moved?

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is looking at options for a new Royal Berkshire Hospital as part of the government’s New Hospital Programme. The Trust have so far identified two sites which could be suitable and want to understand the impact for staff, patients and the wider community including residents and local businesses if the hospital moves.
