This current heatwave means that temperatures are very likely to increase the risk of ill health among vulnerable people.
Stay out of the sun. Keep your home as cool as possible – shading windows and shutting them during the day may help. Open them when it is cooler at night. Keep drinking fluids. If there’s anybody you know, for example an older person living on their own, who might be at special risk, make sure they know what to do.
There are just two weeks left for bidders to submit applications to the new Community Fund, with the deadline for submissions at midnight on Monday, 27th June.

We all saw that the parade was led with great enthusiasm by Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides and Brownies. The participants were not only from Mortimer but also from Burghfield, Sulhampstead and Ufton Nervet. Neil Johnson, who organised this part of the parade, has pointed out that this was the first time since the 1968 St George’s parade in Theale that these groups had paraded together. Due to changes in the scouting world after that, the respective groups chose different paths. So, this joint parade was a moment in history.
