The works to be carried out under the road closure are the removal of the unsafe damaged section of brick parapet, removal of sections of the brick parapet from the canal and the relocation of the temporary concrete block edge protection to provide a safe working area. The above works will be carried out under a full road closure with a signed diversion route. The works have been programmed to be carried out over the following three evenings:

On Wednesday, 5th August, the Eastern Area Planning Committee (EAPC) of West Berkshire Council discussed the Parish Council’s application for planning permission for an additional station car park. The case officer’s recommendation was for refusal. After an in-depth debate it was unanimously resolved that more information was required to clarify some of the issues which had led to the recommendation for refusal and the decision was deferred. EAPC will debate the application again at a future date when the case officer has obtained that information.
