Parish Council Election 2021

Get involved with the future of Mortimer!

There are currently three vacancies on the Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council and the public election to fill these places will take place on Thursday, 6th May.

The notice of election will be posted by West Berkshire Council on 29th March.

The Parish Council wishes to encourage as many people as possible to think about standing for election. Listen to some information from our Chairman, Cllr. Mike Dennett:

The Parish Council provides a range of services and infrastructure within the village. Can you help us do anything better? There are several projects underway, or just starting, so there is plenty of scope for your involvement. At present all our meetings are online and are open to the public. Links to the meetings can be obtained from the agenda, our website or from the Clerk.

Information on what it means to be a councillor can be found on our leaflet (pdf opens in new window)which is being distributed to households shortly, and will be discussed at the Annual Parish Meeting on Monday, 22nd March.  The meeting is a chance for you to speak with councillors and raise any queries about becoming a candidate.

More information on the election can be found in this WBC article: West Berkshire Council - West Berkshire Elections - Information (opens in new window) and application forms can be downloaded from here.  Paper copies of the application pack are available on request from Electoral services on 01635 519463 or electoralservices@westberks.gov.uk.

Nominations will need a proposer and a seconder and applications must be delivered by hand to West Berkshire Council’s offices in Newbury by 4pm on the 8th April.

Anyone wishing to stand in the local parish by-elections on 6 May 2021 should find all the information they need at Parish council elections in England | Electoral Commission (opens in new window).
