Speedwatch Volunteers Needed

Mortimer now has its own Automatic Speedwatch Camera!  Combined with the existing SID machine, we are now more effective in our attempts to deter speeding through our village.

You may have noticed the new signs that have gone up on each of the entrances to Mortimer.  These are required in order to deploy the new machine which records the speed and details of vehicles exceeding the speed limit, which are then submitted to Thames Valley Police for further action.

At the moment all the operators are parish councillors, and we need your help.  The machine needs two operators throughout a session.  To be an effective deterrent, the machine needs to be visible and deployed regularly, usually (but not always) during peak hours on weekdays.  Sessions run for a maximum of two hours.  Practical and online training will be provided.

If you would like to learn more with a view to volunteering to join the team tackling speeding in our village, please let us know by emailing admin@stratfield-mortimer.gov.uk (opens in new window)
