Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council Community Grants - January 2024
In 2022, Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council created a Community Grant Fund to provide financial support to charity, voluntary and non-commercial organisations running initiatives for the benefit of the parish and/or its inhabitants.
Several applications were received at the last round of 2023 and, at its meeting on 11th January 2024, after checking eligibility and the benefits to the village, the Full Council voted to make the following awards:
- 1st Mortimer Scout Group: £1,500 towards their programme of upgrading the Scout HQ in Birch Lane with the installation of solar panels.
- Burghfield & Mortimer Volunteer Bureau: £1,500 towards setting up a website and marketing to increase their visibility to the community.
- Daisy’s Dream: £360 towards providing 1:1 therapeutic support to bereaved children and young people in the community.
- Mortimer Methodist Church: £1,200 for the purchase of a further four radiator guards to protect young and vulnerable people using the Hall.
- Mortimer Table Tennis Club: £300 towards setting up a programme of weekly table tennis to promote activity and socialising for the elderly.
- The Oaks Childcare: £1,500 towards their fund to offer free or low-cost childcare for disadvantaged or low-income families, refugees, and other children in need.
