Telephone Box Refurbishment

Further to Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council adopting the decommissioned BT phone box located at the junction of Victoria Road and Kings Street, in support and recognition of the NHS and the work undertaken by its staff during the pandemic, the Council agreed to paint the box in NHS blue. Notification of this decision was given in the Council’s Autumn 2021 newsletter.

The paint took a little while to come but was supplied free of charge by Akzo Nobel, paint sponsors for Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT) who sourced the phone box defibrillator.

The initial painting of the box exterior has been undertaken and further refurbishment will be undertaken in the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, the vandalised defibrillator has had to be returned to the manufacturers for assessment as to whether it can be repaired or whether a replacement is needed.  We are hoping for an update shortly.
