YELLOW Heat-Health Alert - (Hot weather response) is in effect from 12PM on 18/06/2025 until 6PM on 22/06/2025 across the South East.
The Met Office, in conjunction with UKHSA, is issuing the following heat-health warning for our area:
Significant impacts are possible across health and social care services due to the high temperatures, including:
- a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions. There may also be impacts on younger age groups
- a likely increase in demand for health services
- internal temperatures in care settings (hospitals and care homes) may exceed the recommended threshold for clinical risk assessment
- the heat affecting the ability of the workforce to deliver services
- indoor environments overheating increasing the risk to vulnerable people living independently in community and care settings
You can see all the weather health alerts currently in place across England on the UKHSA data dashboard.
Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic disease. Advice on how to reduce the risk either for yourself or somebody you know can be obtained from the NHS website at https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/heatwave-how-to-cope-in-hot-weather/NHS 111 or from your local chemist.
