Garth Hall Update

Members of the parish council met on Thursday 29 February with representatives from the Royal British Legion to discuss progress regarding the potential transfer of the trust relating to, or the disposal of, Garth Club (aka Garth Hall).  Following the formal notice published in October last year, the Legion received four indications of interest in relation to the building, of which two potentially satisfied the initial criteria sufficiently to be discussed at the meeting.

As a result of the discussions at the meeting it has been decided that the Legion will now invite the two organisations to meet with them (with two parish councillors as observers) to flesh out their bids in greater detail so that the Legion can consider whether their proposals  are viable and that the building can be brought back into community use - this will all take place over the next couple of months.

Following this, the Legion will make a decision as to the transfer of the trust to new trustees or - if the conclusion is that neither bid meets the requirements for a transfer of the trust – a sale of the building (with the net proceeds being used for community purposes).
