Compliance status

This website is not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1AA standard. The non-compliances and exemptions are listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

For historical reasons, the current website is not compliant with many aspects of the WCAG 2.1 AA standard and it is counterproductive to list them here. The Council plans to correct this in September 2020 with a new website with compliant content, navigation and accessing and interactive tools and transactions.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

For historical reasons, the current website is not compliant with many aspects of the WCAG 2.1 AA standard and it is counterproductive to list them here. The Council plans to correct this in September 2020 with a new website with compliant content, navigation and accessing and interactive tools and transactions.

Disproportionate burden

The Council will assess any changes that may fall under disproportionate burden once the new site framework is ready.

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Many of the Council’s PDFs and Word documents may not meet accessibility standards – for example they may not be structured so that they are accessible to a screen reader. The accessibility regulations do not require the Council to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they are not essential to providing council services. For example, we do not plan to fix minutes dated pre 23rd September 2018.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

The Council is working with a website provider with a view to providing a fully accessible website.
